Tubular socks knit on 9 mm chunky with ribber.
RIBBING - E-wrap cast on 20-0-20. With knitter arm, knit 1 row from right to left at tension R. Attach ribber arm. Push up ribber and transfer every second stitch to ribber bed. Insert comb and weights. RCOOO Knit 19 rows KIPI with both tensions set at R. Transfer ribber stitches to main bed and lower ribber bed. With knitter arm, knit 1 row from right to left. Remove on waste yarn - but do not break main yarn.
LEG - Set for tubular knitting with knitter carriage tension at 1 and ribber carriage tension at 1.2
Fold ribbed cuff so side edges are touching at zero on knitter carriage. Hang 10-0-10 sts on main bed, having edge sts on either side of zero. This will put the rib seam at the centre back of the sock. Raise ribber bed halfway and hang second set of 20 stitches. Raise ribber bed. Hang weight on knitting needle woven through cuff. Remove waste yarn. Unravel 10 sts to right of "0" (main yarn is now on the right side of machine).
RC000 Knit 62 rows tubular (RC124) - COR
HEEL - Drop ribber bed halfway, change carriage settings to stocking stitch, set for short rowing, and attach knitter arm.
RC000 *On side opposite to carriage, bring last needle to hold. Knit 1 row and pass yarn under needle in hold.* Repeat from * to * to 6 sts in centre. RC014
RC000 Bring needles back to working position ~ pushing one inside needle back on opposite side of carriage. Knit 1 row. Repeat till all needles are back in working position - RC014 - COR.
At this point, fill holes ~ picking up back loop from ribber end stitch and hang on the end stitch on knitter bed.
FOOT - Tubular - Attach ribber arm, raise ribber bed, and reset for tubular knitting. RC000 Knit 45 rows tubular (RC90).
TOE - Decrease 1 stitch each end of each bed every second row (4 carriage movements) to 14 sts on each bed. Then decrease 1 stitch each end of bed every row (2 carriage movements) until 6 sts remain. Knit 2 rows. Leave 12" tail. Remove on waste yarn and graft toe. Sew cuff seam.
