Materials: Choice of Heirloom Olympic, 2 strands of 2/24,
Bramwell Fine 4-ply, Nomis 3/15, or any similar weight yarn
Tension: T9 for tuck, T1/1 for rib
Gauge: 6 3/4 stitches = 1 inch
14 1/2 rows = 1 inch in tuck pattern
Pattern: As above or Pattern #276 in Stitch World (Can also use
English Rib, then you don't have to switch from the
ribber to the main bed.)
Cast on 95 sts for 1x1 rib. K 25 rows. Transfer sts to main bed.
Set tension to 9. Set RC to 00. Program Pattern #276 or tuck
pattern of your choice with COL. Work tuck stitches to row 49
(COR). Transfer every 4th stitch to adjacent needle. Put empty
needles in NWP. Knit 6 rows while turning the tension lower by ..
(2 dots/clicks) every row. Transfer the middle stitch of every
set of 3 stitches to adjacent needle. Put empty needles in NWP.
Knit 6 rows while turning the tension lower by .. (2 dots/clicks)
every row. Take off with double strand of yarn with double-eye
needle. Sew side seam reversing stitching for ribbing so that
when ribbing is turned up, seam is invisible. Tighten and tie
top. Fold ribbing over outside of hat.
