Making Crocheted Buttons

Recently I needed buttons for a dressy jacket...none in the stores satisfied me, so I made my own. Here's what I did:
Cast on 6 sts (use a crochet hook that is compatible with your
yarn). Slip stitch into first chain stitch to join. Continue in
slip stitch into the center of the circle until you get the size
you desire. (I filled the hole so that I could sew through it
onto the garment.)
It makes a "soft" button that is rather attractive For
a different look, use single crochet instead of slip stitch. It
really added to the looks of the jacket that I had made.
