to fit size 51cm/18inches using 4ply
I used a Knitmaster Empisal 360L with ribber

JACKET

BACK.

Put ribber in postition and set for 1x1 rib
place 81 needles on main bed to 1x1 rib and the corresponding ones on the ribber bed to 1x1.
*With main yarn and Carriage at the right, cast on and knit 3 tubular rows.
Set Row Counter to 000 and Tension 3 on both beds knit 16rows (this can be done in mock rib)
Transfer stitches to main bed set tension to 6. Row Counter to 000 and knit 74rows.**

Raglan

set Row counter to 000 again, and I placed a marker here at both ends, decrease 2 stitches at beginning of the next 2 rows. Then knit 4 rows
Dec 1 st at each end of next row, and knit 4rows, do this once more. The row counter should read 014.
dec 1 st at each end, knit 2 rows 24 times, row counter should read 062 .
Set tension dial to 10 and knit 1 row and then cast off.

FRONT:
knit one, then knit another one - reverse shapings for the other side

set up main bed for 37needles: 1x1 rib and bring up the corresponding needles on ribber bed, set for 1x1
work from * - ** of back

Raglan.

With Carriage on the right, set row counter to 000. Place a marker at left edge Knit 1 row.
Carriage at Left: Decrease 2 stitches at left and knit 6rows.
Decrease 1 stitch at left and knit 4 rows do this again.
you should have 33 stitches and row counter should read 015.
decrease 1 stitch at left knit 2 rows 23 times, At the SAME TIME when row counter says 040, and carriage is on the right SHAPE KNECK by casting off 4 stitches at the right Knit 2 rows.
Cast off 2 stitches at right Knit 2 rows.
Cast off 2 stitches at right and continue decreasing at raglan side, until 2 stitches remain. Cast off.
work a second front reversing shapings.

SLEEVES 2 the same.

with ribber in position set for 1x1 rib push 41 needles on main bed and on ribber bed.
Work 3 tubular rows, set Row counter to 000 and using tension 3/3 knit 16 rows.
Transfer stitches to main bed, using Tension 6 Row Counter at 000 Shape sides thus
Increase 1 stitch at each end and knit 8 rows...do this 8 times in all until you have 57 stitches.
knit until the row counter says 078.

Raglan

set row counter to 000 Place a marker at each end
Cast off 2 stitches at beginning of next 2 rows- knit 4 rows
decrease 1 stitch at each end knit 4 rows - twice.
Decrease 1 stitch at each end knit 2 rows 11 times (27 stitches remaining)
Decrease 1 stitch at each end knit 3 rows 8 times until 11 stitches remain,
Row Counter should show 060
Knit 1 row
Cast off 4 stitches at left for first sleeve and at right for second sleeve.
Knit 1 row.
Knit 1 row at Tension 10
cast off.

HOOD

set main bed 50 neeles at right of '0' and 49needles at left of '0'.(99 needles)
and corresponding needles on ribber bed, set for 1x1 rib and knit 3 tubular rows
Set Row Counter to 000 and set to tension 3/3 and knit 24 rows.
Transfer stitches to main bed and set Tension dial to 6 and row counter to 000
knit 70 rows
shape hood
push 5 needles to holding position at opposite side of carriage and knit 1 row twice
push 10 needles to holding position at opposite side to carriage knit 1 row 6 times
Cast off ....

OR

using waste yarn knit 7 rows release work from machine,
With right sides together fold work in half and bring forward 49 needles on main bed and starting at outside edge rehang two 2stitches onto each needle where the fold of hood is, hang 3 stitches onto one needle.Using main yarn and tension dial set to 10 knit one row and cast off.

Button Band

Bring 12 needles into working position on main bed and the corresponding needles on ribber bed and set for 1x1 rib match sequence of needles to those used on the front welts.
At tension 3/3 knit a band to fit up the centre of front edge...cast off.

Buttonhole Band

Work the same as Button Band, making 5 button holes evenly spaced.

To Make up

To Make Up:-
Hood: with right sides together, fold hood in half and stitch together, I usually do an over stitch.

Join raglan seams together

Find centre of back, and pin centre of back to the centre join of hood.

then stitch the buttonhole and button bands to front edges of coat.

Fold the rib section of the hood over onto the right side and lightly sew in place down at the side edges.

Pin and attatch the hood to the neck edge If you put the centre of the back of hood inline with the centre of the back piece, you should find that you are finishing so that the edge of the turn back brim part comes to about the centre of the ribbed bands, I try to get it to about the 2nd or 3rd stitch in, but sometimes it comes to about the 5th stitch, tension here I guess..

Now if you haven't already done it, join the sideseams and the edge seams together

put on the buttons. I didn't press this at all, and some of them, I did a mock rib...

LEGGINGS:

Footless trouser type leg

with Ribber in position set machine for 1x1 rib push 56 needles on main bed and corresponding needles on ribber bed to working position.
Arrange needles 1x1 rib
Carriage at Right cast on and knit 3 tubular rows
Using tension 3/3 knit 12 rows
Transfer stitches to main bed, tension dial set to 6
Row Counter 000
knit 2 rows
Increase 1 stitch at each end of next and every following 6th row 9 times in all.
74 stitches
Knit until Row counter shows 064.

Crotch

Cast off 2 stitches at beginning of next two rows
Knit 2 rows
Decrease 1 stitch at at each end of next and every following 3rd row until 66 stitches remain.
Knit until Row Counter shows 117 (118 for right leg)

Shape Back

Set carriage to holding Position
push 8 needles at opposite side to carriage to holding position - on the next and every following alternate row, 4 times in all. Knit 1 row
Cancel hold knit 1 row

Waistband
Transfer every 4th stitch onto its next needle, and push empty needle into non working position using main tension -2
Knit 12 rows.
Make a hem by picking up the loops from the first row, (where the stitches were transfered) and hang back onto the needles that were put into non working position.
Set main tension back to 6
knit 1 row and cast off.
Make another leg but note the difference in rows to reverse shapings.
To make up join seams thread elastic through waistband.

BOBBLE HAT

pushing 101 needles into position and corresponding needles on ribber set for 1x1 rib carriage at right...knit 3 tubular rows
at tension 3/3 knit 24 rows.
Tranfer stitches to main bed
Set row Counter to 000
Using main tension 6 knit 42 rows
transfer every alternat stitch to next needle push empty needles to non working position.
Set main tension - 2 knit one row
Now break yarn leaving enough to thread through remain stitches thread yarn through remaining stitches release from machine.

To make up

draw up stitches with wrong side of work facing, sew down to welt turn hat to right side showing and sew up rib welt
turn back welt

Make a Bobble for top if desired.
