Materials 2 strands 2/24 yarn (2 cones)
Racking handle up, black strippers (for passaps) 


Cape is made in 5 panels, one back, two sides, and two fronts.
Cast on and needle setup is the same for all panels.

Needles are arranged in an every other needle on both beds.
End needles are on the back bed (contrary to the needle rule)

Decreasing is made by transferring end stitches using the 3, 4, or 5 prong transfer tool. (full fashioned decreasing) Be sure to return empty needles to out of work position, As well as pushers for the needles.

The bind off is done by transferring stitches to the back bed, And binding off with the single eye tool.

Cast on: s.s. 3 N/N knit 1 row
s.s. 3 1/2 CX/CX knit 2 rows
s.s. 4 CX/CX knit 2 rows
s.s. 4 1/2 N/N knit 1 row

Reset row counter to 000, Changing stitch size to 5 on both locks. Bring up a pusher up for each needle in work on the "front bed" only. Arrange these pushers in a 2 up, And 2 down pattern, Across the needle bed.

Back: Cast on 70 back bed 69 front bed, every other needle. Decrease on both sides (per note above) on rows: 156, 182, 204, 222, 240, 258, 274, 286, 300, 314, 328, 342, 356, 364, 382, 396, 408, 420, 432, 444, 456, & Bind off 27 stitches back bed, And 26 stitches on the front bed.

Side: Cast on 55 back bed and 54 front bed, every other needle. Make 2 panels,
Decreasing on rows 140, 176, 198, 222, 236, 250, 266,280, 296, 310, 324, 338, 352, 366, 376, 388, 398, 408, 414, 424, 432, 438, 446, 456, Binding off 8 back bed and 7 front bed

Front: Cast on 35 back bed 34 front bed. Make 2 panels. One in reverse of the other.
Decreasing on the right side for one and on the left side for the other, on rows.144, 166, 184, 202, 218, 236, 250, 266, 282, 294, 308, 322, 334, 346, 358, 366, 376, 384, 394, 402, 410, 418, 426, 432, 438, 444, and 456being the last row, Stitches are decreased out to a point --- Be sure to DECREASE NECK STITCHES on rows 424, 426, 428, 430, 432, and 434.

Collar: Cast on 64 back bed and 63 front bed every other needle, With the decreasing on both sides of rows 8, 14, 20, 28, 38, 44, 52, 60, 62, 64, 66, 68, 70, 72, 74, 76, and 78 with a bind off of 31 back and 30 front.

Front bands: Handle down blue strippers ( orange if no blue).

Cast on 10 stitches both beds.

Make ( or mark) buttonholes on center 4 stitches on rows 155, 219, 285, 351, 419. On row 426 transfer stitches for bind off. Make a second band without buttonholes. 

Armslit bands: As above, only with 8 stitches on each bed. Knit 122 rows and bind off.

Finishing: Sew panels together leaving 8 1/2 inch slits when joining fronts to side panels for arm holes. Pin or baste collar to neck edges, easing in the fullness of the cape at the neck line. Sew front bands and arm bands on, Slightly stretching bands to fit snugly. Steam collar and bands lightly.
