1x1 RIB HOSPITAL HAT

MACHINE: any standard bed with ribber.
YARN USED: small amount of any yarn suitable for a baby (sample
garment was made of Nomis 3/15)
Nice to be included with a baby blanket.
Preemie use L42-R41 for 47 rows
Bigger size use L50-R51 for 61 rows
1. a. Carriages on right.
b. 1x1 rib setup.
c. T-0/0 I - With waste yarn, knit 1 zig-zig row, and cut yarn.
d. Hang ribber cast-on-comb (no weights).
e. Release ribber cam and make 2 passes with ribber cam only(this
drops the loops off the ribber - often called the broken-toe
cast-on).
2. a. With garment yarn (leave enough yarn for seaming) knit 1
row to the right.
b. Set carriages for circular (MB - left PART in - ribber right
PR up)
c. Knit 2 rows.
3. a. RC000.
b. Carriages to PLAIN.
c. T-5.0/5.0-I.
d. Knit 1 row.
e. Hang weights (some machine need more than others).
f. Continue to rib to RC047 or RC061 (COL).
g. Transfer ribber stitches to MB.
h. T-7.0 - knit 1 row.
4. a. Decrease EOS with Lace Carriage or by hand.
b. T-8.0 - knit 2 rows.
5. Gather off with separate double yarn.
6. With the cast-on yarn, seam using the weaving rib seam method
(inside part of the outside stitch - loop to loop and
knot to knot).
7. a. Gather top of hat tightly, knot and clip yarns to about 1.
b. Remove waste yarn.
8. For safety reasons DO NOT put a pompom on hat.
