Cast on 50stitches at either side of '0' and then with carriage starting at right knit 10rows MT5, then one row MT6, and10 rows MT5, then bring up the loops of the cast on to make a hem

* with carriage on the right, put the 50 stitches on the left of the needle bed to hold position.

Using a contrast colour knit two rows on the 50sts that are still in the working position on the right.

working on the 50 stitches on the right, YOUR right that is dec 1st at each end, knit two rows, - 14 times,

knit 1 row at tension 9, (carriage at left)

select tension 7+1.

Bring forward one needle at each end of the decreased edges knit two rows until all the decreased stitches are back again, (!00sts) knit one row, and the carriage is at the right hand side again, release the HOLD and rejoin
main colour **

Knit 72rows across all 100 stitches.

Change back to contrast and work the toe exactly the same as the heel.or from * - ** .

knit across all 100 stitches again and back to right, then cast off...

.
Sew up inside of heel and toe, and down the side of leg. Make a cord and attatch to the top, or crotchet a chain.

I've done Candy stripe ones, (Red and White) and am in the middle of swiss darning some parcels on them, Please remember that a a punch card pattern can be done of trees or Santa's but you would have to use the punch card
upside down, as you will be working from the top of the stocking.

Decorate the top of the Stocking with either a knitted band, or some fur fabric, or some lace. I have just finished one in dark navy, and put a swiss darned snow scene on it, with a pale lemon moon. The Top has White lace
which has a navy trim to it, so this is gathered and stitched around the top. If you put a Santa motif on a stocking, stitch on a little brass bell, to his hat.

Swiss darn any Christmas Motif or someone's name. To make a Pair, reverse all shapings so that seams are against the wall when hung either toe to toe, or heel to heel, at either side of the fireside.

Take care for now
